Zach Brumfield

Co-Founder — Drumfield Designs

Battery Percussion Designer

Zach is a percussionist, composer, and marching arts performer/educator from Noblesville, IN. His musical journey began at the age of three when he was gifted his first drum set, setting in motion a lifelong passion for percussion. Following in his father’s footsteps, he joined concert band in sixth grade and quickly immersed himself in every musical opportunity available—performing in concert bands, jazz bands, show choir bands, marching bands, and indoor percussion ensembles throughout his school years, later expanding into collegiate and independent ensembles.

Zach’s dedication to his craft has led to numerous performance achievements. He was a member of the Indiana All-State Percussion Ensemble in 2017 and 2018 and earned three first-place snare drum solo awards at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) (2016–2018), two of which featured original compositions that are available for purchase. His marching arts experience includes performing with Pioneer (2018), Veritas (2019–2020), the Blue Knights virtual season (2020), the Bluecoats (2021–2022), and Broken City Percussion (2022–2023).

Following his performance career, Zach has developed a strong presence as an educator. He first worked with the Anderson High School Marching Band battery percussion section (and has continued to) since 2019, contributing to another State Fair Band Day Championship for the program. That same year, he joined the percussion staff at Decatur Central High School in Indianapolis, where he continues to teach and mentor students. His teaching experiences also include private lessons and group classes of all ages at the Percussive Soundscapes Music Academy in Greenwood, IN. In 2024, Zach became a Battery Percussion Technician with The Cavaliers, and has since been recrutied an Educational Artist at Innovative Percussion, a recognition of his dedication to advancing percussion education.

Beyond teaching and performing, Zach and his father co-founded My First Drum Solo (MFDS), a community initiative that introduces inner-city youth to percussion. At family-focused events across central Indiana, children have the chance to play a real drum set, walk away with their first pair of drumsticks, and capture the memory with a photo of their solo experience.

Zach’s ultimate goal is to use his love of music and percussion as a catalyst for building connections, fostering creativity, and sharing his passion with communities everywhere.
